Evening events can start after MSI closes to the public. MSI is open to the public daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with extended hours (9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m) during Spring Break, summer months, and the winter holidays. Special Event start times are customized based on the client’s needs. Museum rental include 4-5 hours' use of the space based on the details of your event.

Yes! MSI has wonderful private spaces for daytime meetings and events. Please contact an Event Consultant for further details.

Yes! Exhibit areas are available as part of your museum rental and are specific to the area you choose. MSI will staff your event much like during the day with facilitators, Guest Service staff, security and facilities staff.

Event setup prior to the Museum closing requires prior permission. Larger A/V and lighting setup may be done the night before with advance approval. Please speak with your special event consultant if you have additional setup questions.

To ensure the success of your event, the Museum of Science and Industry has partnered with exclusive vendors who extensively know the venue and are trained in the policies and procedures of working in the building. All of our vendors are licensed by the city and state, and meet the insurance requirements mandated by MSI and the Chicago Park District.

Complimentary parking is provided for evening events in our onsite underground secure lot with easy access into the building.

The Museum is available for rental for all types of events both corporate and social. If you are looking to hold an event involving an admission charge or involving fundraising, you must be a qualified not-for-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3).

No problem! Please let your Event Consultant know in advance if you have any special dietary requests. Our culinary team is happy to accommodate reasonable requests pertaining to health conditions, religious practices or allergies.

Yes! If you are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3), the Museum does offer a 10% discount on space rental.
