More Ways to Give

Looking for unique ways to give? Seeking more control over how your gifts are used? MSI offers creative and flexible giving options designed to better meet your needs.

Gifts of securities

If you make a mutual fund or stocks gift, instead of cash, you will likely enjoy greater tax savings: your cost to make a gift will be lower and the impact of your charitable dollars will be higher.

In-kind gifts

You can help MSI reduce its expenses and be a better steward of gifts by donating goods or services. Examples include artifacts for our exhibits, food and beverages for events, supplies for educational programming; the list goes on and on.

Volunteering

Bring science to life for our guests by serving as a Museum volunteer.

Where to Give

Your gift to MSI funds the following programs and initiatives.

Join us in October for the city’s largest fundraising event supporting youth science education. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available.

Growing in scope, importance and impact, MSI’s Center for the Advancement of Science Education (CASE) is nationally recognized for innovative programming that empowers teachers, engages the community and excites students.

Exhibits

From the Baby Chick Hatchery to the Coal Mine and Science Storms, MSI delivers some of the most amazing exhibits on earth. Support your favorite with a restricted gift.

Endowment

The endowment is MSI's capital fund. A healthy endowment decreases our dependence on annual fundraising, increases available funds, supports capital improvement and provides greater financial stability and growth.

Black Creativity promotes increased engagement with science among African Americans and delivers high-quality science education opportunities to Chicago's African-American youth.

Building Preservation

Our building is our largest artifact. Constructed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, MSI is housed in the last remaining building from the fair. Keeping our historic home in tip-top shape takes a lot of work—and you can help.
